Vision
Building Champions by motivating our clients,
inspiring each other, serving our community,
and bringing glory to God in all that
we do.
Mission
Our mission is to present a positive, upbeat
atmosphere where people want to come in
order to rehabilitate injuries, improve
their abilities, or develop a healthy
lifestyle. We will always employ a staff
of energetic, certified professionals
that care about the unique needs of each
person that walks through our doors and
we will treat each individual with the
courtesy and respect they are entitled.
We intend to be the champion in our industry
by educating our clients and referral
sources that we are their first choice
for consistent, quality sports medicine
and sports performance programs.

History
Sport Specific Training Group, Inc. was founded in Orlando,
Florida in February of 1997 by David Oliver and Jeff Turner.
The original concept was to use the training techniques developed
by David as the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Orlando
Magic and teach young athletes and coaches how to improve
their athletic performance. Steve Slain joined Jeff and Dave
as they traveled throughout Central Florida putting on clinics
and training athletes. Over the next year it became apparent
to the group that there was a need for a quality sports medicine
component to really compliment the programs they were offering.
Joel Johnson, who had managed a large group of sports medicine
facilities in Orlando, was asked to join the partnership and
oversee the development of the injury rehabilitation side
of the business. In December of 1998, SST opened the doors
to their new, 4000 square foot training center in South Orlando.
Today, SST has two locations. The original Orlando location
has grown to over 8000 square feet and includes a high quality
turf surface for functional and performance training. In November
of 2001, SST opened their second location in Winter Park.
This facility, located in the Winter Park Business Center
just north of downtown Orlando, focuses primarily on sports
medicine but is equipped to handle performance programs as
well. In addition to their great facilities, SST has placed
great emphasis on hiring a quality staff. The training staff
is certified in numerous fields and includes physical therapists,
athletic trainers, certified strength and conditioning specialists,
massage therapists, and a nutritionist.
Honors
Sport Specific Training Group was recognized
by the Greater Orlando Chamber of Commerce
as one of the top 25 small businesses
in Central Florida in 2001. The Orlando
Predators of the Arena Football League
selected SST to be their official provider
of sports medicine and performance programs
in 2000 and continues that relationship
today. Also, Rollins College, a small
division 2 program located in Winter Park,
FL, chose SST to be their sports medicine
provider and to work closely with their coaches
and athletes in the new Alfond Sports
Center located on campus.
