Steve has a diverse background in the
sports medicine and sports performance
field. He was a Fire Fighter/Paramedic
for Orange and Seminole County for 8 years
and 2 years as a Flight/Paramedic for
Humana Hospital, Orlando. Steve received
his Florida state certification in massage
therapy, specializing in sports massage.
He has been very active as a sports massage
clinician in Central Florida, working
with amateur and professional athletes
in all sports.
He has been involved in strength and conditioning
for the past 10 years being trained under
the guidelines of the American College
of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and The National
Strength and Conditioning Association
(NSCA), where he is also a member.
Steve was named as the team Massage Therapist
for the Orlando Magic in 1993 and assisted
David Oliver with the strength and conditioning
programs during that time.
In 1994, Steve was named as the Strength
and Conditioning Coach/Massage Therapist
for the US Women's National Soccer Team.
He designed and implemented year round
strength, conditioning and nutrition programs
for world-class soccer athletes such as
Michelle Akers and Mia Hamm. He developed
the training program which helped the
women capture the Bronze medal at the
1995 World Championship and the Gold medal
at the 1996 Olympic games in Atlanta.
Steve still works as consultant to the
Women's National team and numerous Division
1 women's soccer programs. He currently
consults as strength and conditioning
coach for Lake Mary and Winter Park high
school girl's soccer. His fitness and
conditioning program is being utilized
by the nationally ranked University of
Virginia women's soccer program, coached
by April Heinrichs, who is now head coach
of the US Women's National soccer team.
Steve has competed in the sport of Duathlons
and is an avid runner and mountain biker.
He is very active speaking on strength
and conditioning and sports nutrition
at camps, clinics and seminars. Steve
has written articles for Training and
Conditioning, Performance Conditioning
for Soccer and "The Champion Within."
He is also active with the Fellowship of
Christian Athletes (FCA) and is a speaker
in the Central Florida area.
