A Letter of Appreciation

Dear Mr. Turner

I am writing this letter to commend your staff, your facility, and the entire experience we had there. Most of all, we are grateful for one of the therapists, J.R., at your facility in Winter Park. He gave our son Tyler such excellent care while he rehabilitated from surgery for his torn ACL.

Tyler's surgery was in May of 2002 and he began his rehab shortly after at SST in Winter Park. My husband and I had no experience whatsoever in this area, and everyone there was so kind, reassuring and patient with us. I'm sure at times we must have seemed anxious but we were always made to feel completely welcome and encouraged to be involved. This was so helpful to us.

Tyler was very anxious about his athletic future when all this began. All the therapist at SST were very helpful, but he was particularly inspired by J.R. As the months passed, he talked about him quite frequently at home. It became obvious to me that the impact that J.R. (and Steve also) were having on Tyler was about so much more than just his knee. Their positive attitude, character, and integrity truly motivated Tyler at rehab and in his attitude about his injury in general.

We had prayed together as a family and each of us on our own so very much during this experience. It was so obvious to me that God had led us to SST, the people there, and especially J.R. I knew that God would take this very difficult and painful event and use it in Tyler's life to mold him and shape him into the man He wanted him to be. Several months into the rehab Tyler said to me one day that getting to know J.R. had shown him what he wanted to do with his life. He wanted to have a career and help others as J.R does. I knew that this was one of the ways that God was using this event in a positive way in Tyler's life.

When Tyler's therapy drew to a close it was hard for him to leave SST. We brought him for several weeks even after the insurance reimbursement ended. When J.R. said good-bye to Tyler he took the time to draw up a customized workout plan for him that has been so helpful. I was not at all surprised that J.R. would do something like that…. Once again his caring nature and expertise was evident.
